Collaboration between Brennan McCracken and Idun Isdrake for the Milieux PhD course New Materialisms Digital Culture & Research Creation 2022, making cycle 1 – shifting perception. The goal was to challenge biases toward the audiovisuality that shapes our ways of knowing and being, perceiving and being perceived, in a space. Through psychogeographic walks, we recorded soundscapes and video to translate into a path.
The waveform paths where printed on transparent paper and placed over a map. Along the path, we planted instructions in a mobile app (not publicly released yet) that a person can access by moving around the downtown Concordia campus. When in proximity to an instruction, or score, it pops up in the app orbit, allowing the participant to interact. There are 9 scores in total.
